An Angel looked down on the World.
He frowned and so his wings unfurled.
No one seemed to be having fun.
So something just had to be done.
The Angel jumped out of his cloud.
He swooped and shouted out aloud.
"Come all you people celebrate,
At least be joyful any rate!"
The Angel flew through street and lane,
He flew through sunshine, snow and rain.
But no person did he find,
Only a cow sat on her behind.
The Angel landed soft as snow,
And o'er to the bovine he did go.
"oh cow why do you sit here?"
Said the cow, "I feel quite queer!"
The Angel, shocked the cow could talk,
In a circle he did walk.
"where are the people?" he did ask.
"I ate 'em," said the cow aghast.
The Angel said, "Why'd you do that?"
The cow replied, "They took my hat!"
The Angel stared at that reply.
He thought of asking the cow why.
Before he could, a church bell rang.
And in the distance voices sang.
The Angel looked upon the cow.
"You have lied, I know that now!
They're all in church! Why did you lie?"
The cow just mooed. She didn't know why.
From then on she became aloof.
The Angel flew up on the church roof.
He listened to the joyful song.
He knew that nothing now was wrong.
