The Night is Silent
The night is silent,
No snow will fall.
And near a brazier,
No cat will call.
The tree is furnished,
The presents wrapped.
Children sleep fitfully,
Their parents relaxed.
And in the morning,
The silence breaks.
All presents given,
All food Mum makes.
The Christmas pudding,
And all before.
The Turkey Stuffing,
Anyone want more?
And then it's over,
And all goes quiet.
Now January sales,
Will create a riot!
For one day only,
We give and give.
Whilst all the year,
We strive to live.
